Internal Materials

The Amorebeds mattress features a hybrid construction.  The top internal layer features state-of-the-art Talalay thermo-transferring graphite latex; specifically engineered to keep you cool.  This layered over 4″ individually wrapped pocket coils provides an unprecedented combination of comfort and support.

Major Key: This truly provides the best sleep experience for anyone.  When you first lay on the Amorebeds your body will slowly sink into the soft but supportive Talalay Graphite Latex top layer.  We were extremely impressed with the immediate pressure relief felt in our backs.  The support transition layer between the Talalay Graphite Latex and the individually wrapped pocket coils did not add an uncomfortable firmness that you’ll find in lesser quality mattresses.  The 4″ pocketed coils are superior to almost every other hybrid mattress on the market.

Each fabric comes with unique qualities that determine what purposes it is well suited for.  In the case of therapeutic copper ion infused fabric, the unique combination of characteristics makes it a fantastic choice for comfort, performance, and health alike.

Rayon and bamboo fibers make up the majority of this textile’s body. Rayon is an interesting fabric as it’s not quite synthetic but not quite natural either—it is made by processing naturally occurring cellulose from wood pulp and, in the case of this fabric, bamboo. The resulting fibers are used to make a fabric that is delightfully smooth to the touch and is very cool as it does not retain body heat. However, some forms of rayon are considered to be lacking in strength. When bamboo is used in the making of rayon, the final product has improved durability. It also helps the rayon to better absorb moisture (including sweat) and allows it to evaporate easily.

Copper is an amazing element and is necessary for human health. It’s naturally found in our bodies (about 0.6 to 0.95mg per pound of body weight) and a copper deficiency can make us feel sick. We get the copper our bodies need to thrive from the foods we eat (and sometimes from supplements) but there are also external ways to use copper to improve our physical wellbeing further.

Copper itself is anti-microbial and anti-fungal and is sometimes used in topical anti-microbial medicines, antiseptics, and hygiene products exclusively for this reason. When used to treat skin conditions caused by fungus or bacteria, the copper helps to destroy the invaders so that the skin can heal itself. Scaling, bruises, and scrapes have all been known to respond positively to treatments containing copper and often heal more quickly with the element’s assistance. Because of its efficacy, some manufacturers are now making copper-infused fabric products meant to be worn directly against the skin to promote similar healing benefits.

Even if you don’t have skin conditions like the ones listed above, copper can be used to improve the appearance of skin. With the advantages that copper offers, some beauty companies have created anti-aging creams to include the ingredient to help improve skin tone and give it a healthier look. Copper ion-infused fabrics are sometimes used for this purpose as well; socks, undergarments, and bedding are available in this therapeutic fabric and are said to enhance the appearance of skin.

Aside from the advantages it offers to skin, copper contributes to the performance of fabric as well. Because copper itself is anti-microbial, germs—including odor-causing ones—cannot thrive on or in copper ion infused textiles. This means that clothing, bedding, and other products made from this amazing material remain free of unpleasant scents longer and require less frequent washing. In fact, the founder of a copper-infused fabric manufacturer wore the same copper ion-containing socks every time he went golfing for two years without washing them a single time! This is an extreme example but goes to show the difference that the addition of copper can make.

Meet The Founders

After moving into a new home, Todd Summerville and his wife, like most people, went to a local mattress store in search of a new bed they could love falling into each night. No other customers were in the store and the sales person seemed more interested in a personal phone call than his customers. When he finally came around, he did not ask the Summervilles what they were looking for, or about their sleep habits. Instead, he pronounced that they were already sitting on the perfect bed for them. How could he possibly know that to be true?

In faith, the Summervilles took their new mattress home and, after a few weeks, failed to have the good night’s sleep the salesperson promised. The return process was aggravating. Unfulfilled by the customer service experience in store, the couple turned to the internet and ordered from a company boasting that their single mattress design is perfect for all people. This, certainly, was not true for the Summerville’s, who have different comfort preferences.

A few sleep-deprived months later, Todd took matters into his own hands with the idea of creating something new in the world of mattresses. He rounded up a group of mattress experts with over 60 years’ combined expertise.
